Wulkuraka: what
actually goes wrong.
Wulkuraka sits at the western edge of suburban Ipswich along the Rosewood railway line, with older homes near the station, industrial land along the line and newer estates spreading north and west. It is a suburb in transition, so plumbing enquiries range from ageing post-war drains to new-home issues.
Wulkuraka was built while drainage and plumbing materials were changing over, which means one house can have clay in the front yard and PVC out the back. Blockages here usually trace to one ageing section or a junction between the two, not the whole system. Original hot water systems, taps and drains across the suburb are now reaching the end of their service life at roughly the same time.
