Riverview: what
actually goes wrong.
Riverview was built mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, with a large share of former public housing on flat blocks between the Ipswich Motorway and the Brisbane River. Its housing is of a consistent age, so the same plumbing problems tend to appear street after street as original fittings wear out.
Riverview was built while drainage and plumbing materials were changing over, which means one house can have clay in the front yard and PVC out the back. Blockages here usually trace to one ageing section or a junction between the two, not the whole system. Original hot water systems, taps and drains across the suburb are now reaching the end of their service life at roughly the same time.
