Springfield is the original suburb of the Greater Springfield master plan, first laid out in the 1990s between Camira’s bushland and the newer town centre. Its first-generation hot water systems, taps and flexible hoses are now wearing out.
Most Springfield homes are recent builds with PVC drains and modern water services, so pipe age is rarely the culprit. The faults here are new-home faults: builder’s debris in the line, braided flexi-hoses bursting under basins, landscaping that redirects stormwater, and first-generation hot water systems starting to fail.
